Chamonix is a legendary alpine town that is located in the shadow of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe, which creates a dramatic and awe-inspiring landscape. It is a melting pot of cultures and has captivated adventurous mountaineers and nature enthusiasts for centuries. Its historic charm and exhilarating alpine terrain means Chamonix promises an unforgettable experience for those who call it home for the season.

Skiing Experience

Chamonix is a true skiing paradise and is  the birth of big mountain riding. Chamonix is split into five different ski areas to choose from, each accessible by bus from the village centre as they are not interconnected. The terrain sets Chamonix apart, with some of the steepest and most daring lines in Europe offered to those willing to go off-piste, therefore the skiing options for the season are essentially limitless.

Renowned for its challenging and varied slopes, Chamonix features famous runs such as the Vallée Blanche, a 20-kilometer off-piste descent that offers stunning views and thrilling experiences. The Grands Montets area is a haven for advanced skiers, with steep slopes and deep powder that test the limits of even the most experienced riders. Beginners and intermediates will find plenty of suitable terrain as well in the Brévent and Flégère areas, where they can enjoy well-groomed pistes and magnificent panoramic views of Mont Blanc.

Beyond the Slopes

After a day on the mountain, explore the lively streets of Chamonix’s town centre, where you’ll find an array of boutique shops, gourmet restaurants, and bustling cafes. You will also appreciate a wide-ranging array of activities from ice skating and sledging to visiting the indoor sports center with its swimming pool and climbing wall.

As night falls, Chamonix livens up. It is considered to be a classy ski resort with plenty of suave cocktail and wine bars, but Chamonix also possesses plenty of alternative options for those looking for a club atmosphere. You’ll be able to relax with a drink at one of the many bars and pubs, or enjoy live music and entertainment at venues like the renowned Chambre Neuf. For a taste of local cuisine, indulge in a hearty Savoyard meal at one of the traditional mountain restaurants. Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or a lively social scene, Chamonix offers an unparalleled alpine experience that will make your season truly unforgettable.

Le Folie Douce, at the base of Brevent, is seen as a hotspot, offering a slightly different experience to what one usually expects from the world famous chain.
